The Senegal international has been in top form in recent weeks and he has helped the Reds to maintain their place at the top of the Premier League table.
Mane scored Liverpool FC’s opener as they claimed a 2-1 win at Fulham on Sunday to move two points clear of Manchester City, who have played a game less than the Reds.
The 26-year-old has been in superb form this season and has scored 17 goals and made one assist in 29 Premier League games for the Reds.
He has scored seven goals in his last five outings for Jurgen Klopp’s men and has underlined his importance to the Liverpool FC team with his strong performances.
Mane is currently one goal behind leading Premier League goal-scorer Sergio Aguero, who has 18 strikes to his name in the top flight this term.
And Anfield legend Aldridge seems to feel that Mane is more than capable of winning the Premier League golden boot this season.
Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, Aldridge said: “Every time I’ve seen Sadio Mane over the past six weeks I keep saying to him: “Golden Boot, Golden Boot” because I know he’s got it in his locker to do it.
“He’s very shy and always replies to me: ‘No, no, no’ but all of a sudden he’s got a chance.
“If either Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero slip up, he or Mo Salah both have an opportunity.
“For me as a centre-forward, I believe that winning the Golden Boot is a very prestigious honour.
“It’s a fantastic achievement for any player to be top scorer in their division but to do it in the Premier League is extra special.
“Sadio has now got himself into a situation in which he’s got an outside chance of getting it – although I don’t think it’s got anything to do with me telling him!”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 31 March.
