Virgil van Dijk issues Liverpool FC rallying cry after Fulham win
Virgil van Dijk delivers his assessment of the Premier League title race after Liverpool FC's 2-1 win at Fulham
Virgil van Dijk believes that Liverpool FC are in a fantastic position to win the Premier League title this season after their 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday.
The Reds claimed victory at Craven Cottage thanks to Sadio Mane’s opener and James Milner’s penalty as they moved above Manchester City and two points clear at the top of the table.
The Merseyside outfit have played a game more than Manchester City, who will return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Fulham on 30 March.
The stage is very much set for an enthralling title race as Jurgen Klopp looks to steer the Merseyside outfit to their first major trophy since he took over.
And Liverpool FC defender Van Dijk feels that the Reds should be enjoying their position as they look to try and wrestle the title away from Pep Guardiola’s team.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website after Sunday’s game, Van Dijk said of his team’s title prospects: “[It’s] not bad, no. The media makes it sound even negative sometimes!
“It’s a fantastic position that we are in and we have to enjoy it but you know we want to go all the way.
“It’s going to be tough because Manchester City are fantastic and the Champions League is very tough like we know, so we’ll see. We will take it game by game.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday 31 March.
The Reds will then take on Southampton, Chelsea FC and Cardiff in their next three games in the top flight.
