Liverpool FC have reached out to Benfica to discuss the availability of Francisco Reis Ferreira, according to a report in Portugal.
Portuguese media outlet Record, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Liverpool FC are interested in a potential swoop to sign the 21-year-old this summer.
The same article states that Liverpool FC have held an interest in the Portuguese defender since 2017 when the Merseyside outfit made an enquiry about the Benfica star.
According to the same story, Ferreira has a contract release clause thought to stand at €100m after the defensive player signed a new deal until 2023 during the current campaign.
The report goes on to claim that the Portugal Under-21 international is attracting interest from Liverpool FC’s title rivals Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool FC were impressive 3-1 winners against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 last week following goals from Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk in the second leg.
The Reds will take on Benfica’s compatriots FC Porto for a place in the Champions League semi-finals next month.
