Michael Owen reveals his prediction for Liverpool FC v Burnley
Michael Owen looks ahead to Liverpool FC's home clash with Burnley on Sunday afternoon
Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to keep their Premier League title bid on track by claiming a comfortable win over Burnley at Anfield on Sunday.
The Reds have been in stuttering form in recent weeks and they have drawn three of their last five Premier League games to allow Manchester City back into the race and move above them in the table.
The Citizens currently sit one point clear at the top of the table with nine games to go.
However, Pep Guardiola’s men can extend their advantage to four points if they beat Watford at The Etihad on Saturday evening.
Liverpool FC will be aiming to bounce back from last weekend’s goalless draw at Everton with a solid win in front of their home fans on Sunday.
And former Reds striker Owen is fully expecting to see Jurgen Klopp’s men claim all three points on Merseyside this weekend to keep their title bid on track.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 35 home Premier League games although they have only won four of their nine league games in 2019.
“The Reds defence – marshalled by the brilliant Virgil van Dijk – have only conceded 15 goals in their 29 Premier League games so far this season, but this is the first time that Mo Salah has failed to score in three successive Premier League games for the club.
“It is only a matter of time, however, before the Egyptian rediscovers his scoring touch and I expect Jurgen Klopp’s side to gain another three vital home points in this High Noon shoot-out.”
Liverpool FC are still searching for their first major trophy under Klopp.
The Reds reached the Champions League final last season but ended up losing 3-1 to Real Madrid last May.
