Michael Owen is tipping Liverpool FC to secure a vital win in the Premier League title race against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Reds signed off for the international break with a close-fought 2-1 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage thanks to James Milner’s late penalty.

Liverpool FC managed to hoist themselves above Manchester City and into top spot in the Premier League table thanks to their narrow win.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will start the Premier League weekend with a two-point advantage, but Manchester City can reclaim top spot if the defending champions beat Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool FC will welcome third-placed Tottenham to Anfield as Mauricio Pochettino’s side look to secure their place in the top four following a mixed run in the Premier League.

Spurs have failed to win their last four games and have lost three times following defeats by Burnley, Chelsea FC and Southampton.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is confident the Reds will beat Spurs in a high-scoring game at Anfield on Sunday evening.

“Liverpool have lost just one of their last 24 home Premier League games with Spurs and I expect the hosts to be top of the table on Sunday evening after, what promises to be, a cracking game at Anfield,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Reds are unbeaten in their last 36 home league games while Spurs are without a win in their last four – a run which has seen the end of their title challenge.

“Liverpool to win, but it could be a bumpy ride.”

Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against Pochettino’s men at Wembley back in August.

The Reds will take on FC Porto for a place in the Champions League semi-finals next month, while Tottenham will face domestic rivals Manchester City.
