Sir Alex Ferguson was in good spirits with Manchester United interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Eric Cantona after Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
The Red Devils made the trip to the French capital looking to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg at Old Trafford following goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe.
Manchester United made the ideal start when Romelu Lukaku got on the score-sheet in the second minute after the Belgian forward capitalised on a defensive mix-up at the back.
PSG looked to have reasserted control of the Champions League tie when Juan Bernat finished from close range after he was picked out by Mbappe.
However, Manchester United were back in the lead in the 30th minute when Lukaku finished past Gianluigi Buffon after the PSG goalkeeper couldn’t hold onto Marcus Rashford’s shot.
The Red Devils appeared to be heading out of the competition despite a valiant effort in Paris but there was some late drama at the Parc des Princes.
Kimpembe was penalised for handling the ball in his area after referee Damir Skomina consulted with VAR deep into stoppage time.
Marcus Rashford held his nerve to score from the spot to secure a 3-1 victory that booked Manchester United’s place in the Champions League quarter-final draw.
And Solskjaer was all smiles in a photo with his ex-manager Ferguson and his former team-mate Cantona.
