Alan Shearer makes confident Man United prediction about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
The Newcastle legend believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will become the permanent Manchester United manager
Alan Shearer believes it is just a matter of time before Manchester United make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer their permanent manager.
The Red Devils were 3-2 winners against Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League under the former Norwegian striker.
Romelu Lukaku scored a winner in the 88th minute to seal three points for the home side to hoist Manchester United into fourth spot in the Premier League table.
The Red Devils were in sixth spot and 11 points off the pace in the top-four race when Solskjaer took over the reins from Jose Mourinho in December.
Manchester United have beaten Arsenal, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur during their unbeaten domestic run, while earning a 0-0 draw with Liverpool FC.
Solskjaer’s only defeat came in a 2-0 loss to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash last month.
However, former Newcastle striker Shearer is confident that Solskjaer will get the Manchester United job on a permanent basis.
“What a job Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing,” Shearer told Match Of The Day on Saturday night. “Manchester United were 11 points off the top four when took he over and they’ve made that up.
“It doesn’t matter whether he gets the job next week or at the end of the season – he’s getting it. Decisions are being made now behind the scenes for pre-season, players coming in and players going out.
“He’s making those decisions.”
Solskjaer has won 10 of his 12 Premier League games in charge of the Old Trafford outfit since his appointment as manager in December.
The Red Devils will make the return trip to PSG in the second leg of their round of 16 clash on Wednesday night.
