Ander Herrera sends message to fans after Man United award
Ander Herrera has his say on being voted as Man United's player of the month for February
Ander Herrera has thanked Manchester United fans for voting him as the club’s player of the month for February.
The midfielder has been in fine form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho back in December, with the Spaniard having been an integral part of the Red Devils’ solid performances.
Herrera, 28, has scored two goals and made three assists in 19 Premier League games so far this season as the Red Devils look to finish in the top four.
The Spaniard is currently sidelined after having picked up an injury during the goalless draw with Liverpool FC last week.
And Herrera has expressed his delight at having been voted as the club’s player of the month.
Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Herrera said: “Someone has to win it but the whole team is doing great.
“We are looking really solid, all the performances have been very solid and we have always been fighting for the result, so we’re really happy with the moment we’re in.
“I won the trophy which makes me feel so proud and happy, but this is a team game and as long as we keep fighting together I will be happy whoever wins the next one.”
Herrera continued: “It’s always good to get the recognition from our fans and our people. That’s why I work so hard, not just to win the trophy [smiles] but for the affection and support of our fans.
“I will keep pushing hard to help the team. At the moment I am injured but I will try to be back as soon as possible. I feel good and feel much better than one week ago and I am looking forward to working hard for the club again.”
Manchester United will return to Champions League action on Wednesday night when they travel to Paris Saint-Germain for the return leg of their last-16 clash, after having lost the first leg 2-0 at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are aiming to finish in the top four this season after their title hopes were ended by their poor start to the season under Mourinho.
