Ryan Giggs is tipping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to lead Manchester United to a top-four finish this season.

The Red Devils currently find themselves in a battle with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea FC for the final two Champions League qualification spots.

Solskjaer was officially appointed as the club’s new permanent manager last week after the solid start he made to life as interim boss.

The Norwegian was initially brought in as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor back in December and he has helped to reverse the club’s fortunes and also guided them into the Champions League quarter-finals.

Now, his former team-mate Giggs feels that Solskjaer should be able to guide the Red Devils to Champions League qualification this season.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Giggs said: “I’m delighted to see Ole has got the job permanently.

“OK, the last two games haven’t gone to plan, [but] if you have the momentum that the team have at the moment, that’s all you want.

“It won’t be easy because there are some quality teams up there but with the players they’ve got and the momentum, I don’t see why we can’t get top four.”

Manchester United will take on FC Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.

The Red Devils are aiming to reach the last four of Europe’s elite club competition as they look to try and win the trophy for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge at Old Trafford.

Manchester United were dumped out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage by Wolves earlier this month.
