Mauricio Pochettino sends a message of congratulations to new permanent Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Mauricio Pochettino has congratulated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for being appointed as the permanent Manchester United manager.
The Norwegian was officially confirmed as the Red Devils’ new full-time boss on Thursday after having impressed following his appointment as interim manager back in December.
Solskjaer has helped to oversee a turnaround in form at Old Trafford to help the Red Devils to challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
The former Manchester United striker has also successfully led the Red Devils through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they will take on FC Barcelona next month.
Pochettino himself was touted as a possible candidate to take over at Manchester United in the summer.
However, the Tottenham Hotspur boss has now offered his congratulations to Solskjaer after the news of his appointment.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Pochettino said: “Of course I need to congratulate Ole and wish him all the best now he is officially the new manager of Manchester United,
“I don’t talk about rumours and in this period there will be a lot more. It always happens.
“This season it is going to happen, last season, the season before. We assume all the rumours, it’s very natural.
“It’s speculation about some clubs will around with another clubs, like the speculation will start about the players.”
Manchester United will return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to Wolves in the Premier League.
They will then switch their focus to their home clash against FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday 10 April.
