Bryan Robson sends message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Bryan Robson backs Man United's decision to appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis
Bryan Robson has backed Manchester United’s decision to appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager on a permanent basis.
Solskjaer was confirmed as the club’s new manager on a three-year contract on Thursday, as had been widely anticipated.
The Norwegian has been earning lots of praise for the impact he has had since he was brought in as the club’s temporary boss following the sacking of Jose Mourinho in December.
Solskjaer has received plaudits for the club’s remarkable turnaround in recent months, with the Red Devils having made their way past Paris Saint-Germain to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
Manchester United are also in the fight for a top-four finish this season, with the Red Devils currently fifth in the table and two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with eight games left to play.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Robson said: “Since Ole Gunnar came in the fans are really enjoying the type of football that we’re playing.
“Ole’s brought a smile and a freedom to be able to go and play.
“The support play is far better and so the results have got better. So he’s done a great job.”
He continued: “I think Ole’s done enough, with the results that he’s got so far, that he deserves the chance to take the club forward and keep playing the type of football that he’s been getting them to play.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Watford at Old Trafford in front of their home fans.
