Man United will have to pay as much as £90m to sign 26-year-old – report
Man United are prepared to offer up to £90m to sign Leicester defender Harry Maguire, according to a report
Manchester United will have to make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the world to sign the England international from Leicester City, according to a report.
The Daily Star is reporting that Manchester United have been informed by Leicester that Maguire will cost more than the £75m fee that Liverpool FC spent on Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.
The same article states that the Red Devils already failed with a £75m offer for the World Cup star last summer so Manchester United are ready to pay a world-record fee for a defender.
According to the same story, Manchester United would be prepared to go as high as £90m to sign the Leicester centre-half in the 2019 summer transfer window.
If the 20-time English champions were willing to spend £90m on Maguire, the former Hull defender would become Manchester United’s most expensive signing in history.
Paul Pogba is currently the club record signing after the France international returned to Manchester United in an £89m deal from Serie A giants Juventus in 2016.
Manchester United are likely to be linked with a number of different centre-halves in the lead-up to the summer given that the defence is a clear weakness in the current Red Devils team.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will host Watford in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
