Manchester United have been informed Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly will cost £130m, according to a report in Italy.

Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that the Red Devils will have to smash Virgil van Dijk’s record transfer fee for a defender to sign Koulibaly in the summer.

The same article states that Manchester United will face a lot of competition for the Senegal international at the end of the Premier League season.

According to the same story, Premier League rivals Chelsea FC are also interested in the imposing Serie A defender, while La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Koulibaly.

The Gazzetta dello Sport article goes on to add that Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis is looking to secure a world-record fee for a defender if the Naples club are to sell the Senegalese star.

Manchester United are bound to be linked with a host of different defenders in the summer transfer window as Ed Woodward looks to overhaul the Red Devils squad.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have struggled for consistency in the past couple of seasons, while Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly have been hit by persistent injuries.

Sweden international Victor Lindelof has been Manchester United’s standout defender in a difficult season for the 20-time English champions.
