Man United could snap up AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas in a summer deal, according to a report in Italy
Manchester United could sign Kostas Manolas from AS Roma in the summer transfer window, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Calciomercato, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, is reporting that the Red Devils are interested in a potential deal for the Greek international.
The same article states that Manolas is one of three defensive targets alongside Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly and Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld.
According to the same story, Manchester United could sign the 27-year-old in a €36m (£30.8m) due to a clause in his current contract.
The dedicated Italian transfer website goes on to add that Manolas’ chances of leaving AS Roma will increase if the Serie A side don’t qualify for the Champions League.
Manolas has netted nine times in 200 games in all competitions for the Italian side since his move to AS Roma from Olympiacos in 2014.
Manchester United are bound to be linked with even more centre-halves in the coming weeks and months ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils will take on La Liga giants FC Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals next month with a place in the last four up for grabs.
Manchester United are in fifth place in the Premier League table.
