Manchester United are going to focus their efforts on signing young talent in forthcoming transfer windows, according to reports.

ESPN, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Red Devils are going to concentrate their efforts on landing younger stars with huge potential rather than spending big on established names.

According to the same story, Manchester United now want to put a stop to “mega signings” with huge wage demands and instead bring in young talent.

It would be something of a throwback to Sir Alex Ferguson’s strategy when he was in charge at Old Trafford, with the Scot having signed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand as youngsters.

According to the same report, interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to continue with Ferguson’s methods, with the Norwegian confirmed as the club’s new permanent boss on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are preparing to return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Watford at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils currently find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League table and two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal as the race for Champions League qualification hots up.
