Man United send scouts to watch 21-year-old defender – report
Manchester United are interested in a potential deal for Benfica defender Ruben Dias, according to a report
Manchester United are ready to firm up their interest in Benfica starlet Ruben Dias, according to a report in England.
The Sun is reporting that the Red Devils have already sent scouts to watch the promising Benfica star as Manchester United look to improve their defensive options.
The same article states that Manchester United’s chief scout Marcel Bout has included Dias in a potential list of defensive recruits after having watched the 21-year-old.
According to the same story, the 20-time English champions scouted Dias as recently as Thursday for Benfica’s clash against Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League round of 16.
The Sun’s report doesn’t give any indication about the potential transfer fee that the promising Benfica defender might command.
Dias’ current contract is set to run until 2021 so Manchester United would presumably have to meet Benfica’s valuation given that the Portuguese club are under no pressure to sell.
Manchester United were 3-1 winners against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 clash at Parc des Princes on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils will return to Premier League action on Sunday with an away clash against Arsenal at The Emirates.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will start the weekend in fourth place and in pole position to secure the final Champions League qualification spot.
