Manchester United have suffered a “mega blow” to their hopes of signing Ryan Sessegnon as the Fulham defender wants to remain in London, according to a report in England.
The Daily Express is reporting that the 18-year-old doesn’t want to leave the English capital despite a summer transfer being on the cards for the Fulham star.
The same article states that Manchester United are in a battle with Tottenham Hotspur to sign the highly-rated English teenager in the 2019 summer transfer window.
According to the same story, Manchester United are ready to submit a £50m offer to sign the full-back at the end of the season but Fulham are thought to be reluctant to do business.
The Daily Express adds that Tottenham could sign Sessegnon and loan the defender back to Fulham for next season to allow the English prospect to continue his development.
Sessegnon has scored two goals and has made five assists in 27 games in the Premier League in his first season in the English top flight after building a promising reputation in the second tier.
Manchester United suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday to end their hopes of winning the competition for the first time since 2015.
