Man United, Man City favourites to sign France defender – report
Samuel Umtiti is keen on a move to Manchester City or Manchester United in the summer, according to a report
Samuel Umtiti would like to move to Manchester City or Manchester United if the France defender leaves FC Barcelona in the summer, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Calciomercato, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, is reporting that Umtiti could be leaving the Spanish side in the summer transfer window.
The same article states Matt De Ligt’s potential arrival from Ajax could spell the end of Umtiti’s career at the Spanish champions after a mere three seasons at Camp Nou.
According to the same story, Manchester United or Manchester City would have to produce a significant transfer fee to secure Umtiti on a summer deal.
The Italian website adds that Umtiti has three and a half years left to run on his current deal and FC Barcelona would seek a transfer fee to fund a bid for De Ligt.
Manchester United have endured mixed fortunes over the past two weeks under the management of their interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils were 3-1 winners against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their last-16 tie in the Champions League, before a 2-0 loss to top-four rivals Arsenal.
Manchester United lost back-to-back games for the first time under the Norwegian following a 2-1 defeat at Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
