Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is backing Manchester United to ease to a comprehensive 2-0 win over relegation candidates Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
“It was a massive result for Saints against Fulham on Wednesday, their cup final, but I don’t see how they’re beating Man United,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Their big game was against Fulham, but United will be too strong for them here.
“For United to get that impressive result with that many injuries at Palace was impressive. I think this is a simple victory at Old Trafford.”
Manchester United are looking to secure a top-four finish for just the third time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
The Red Devils have managed to remain unbeaten in the Premier League since Solskjaer took over the reins from Jose Mourinho back in December.
The 20-time English champions will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash next week.
