BBC Sport pundit gives his prediction for Man United v Watford
Mark Lawrenson looks ahead to Man United's clash with Watford in the Premier League on Saturday
Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to move back into the top four with a 2-0 win over Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils currently find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League table and two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who host Newcastle United at The Emirates on Monday night.
Saturday’s clash will be Manchester United’s first game since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed as the club’s new manager on a permanent deal on Thursday.
The Norwegian has been earning plenty of praise for the positive impact he has had at Old Trafford since he was brought in as Jose Mourinho’s successor back in December.
And former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to claim all three points by beating Watford on Saturday.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was announced as permanent Manchester United manager on Thursday.
“Sometimes a caretaker manager comes in and does really well but you are not sure whether he should get the job full-time, but that is not the case here.
“Will Solskjaer keep on winning now his future is sorted out and take three points on Saturday? Yes.
“Hornets boss Javi Gracia rested players before his side’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Crystal Palace and I think next weekend’s semi-final will be on his mind here.
“Watford play again, against Fulham on Tuesday, before they face Wolves at Wembley but I don’t think Gracia will play his best XI at Old Trafford.”
Manchester United will take on FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the Champions League next month.
The Red Devils are aiming to try and break back into the top four before the season is out as they look to build on their second-placed finish last season under Mourinho.
