Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to ease to victory over Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils will be eager to return to winning ways following successive losses to Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League and the FA Cup.

Manchester United have made significant progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the Norwegian’s appointment as Jose Mourinho’s replacement back in December.

Arsenal are the only team to have beaten Manchester United in the Premier League since the former striker took over the reins of the 20-time English champions.

Manchester United slumped to a 2-1 loss to Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-final to miss out on the chance to get their hands on some silverware.

Solskjaer’s side are in fifth place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Arsenal, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Former Manchester United striker Owen is confident that the Red Devils will secure a win in a high-scoring game against Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

“Watford have never won at Old Trafford in the league (D2 L9) and I expect United to return to winning ways having lost at Arsenal in the Premier League and at Wolves in the FA Cup in recent weeks,” Owen told BetVictor.

“United have only kept two clean sheets at home in the league so far this season – one of them was against Liverpool – and I feel the Hornets may find the back of David De Gea’s net on Saturday.

“That said, I feel United will do enough to maintain their challenge for a top four place.”

Manchester United will take on FC Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals next month with a place in the last four up for grabs.

The Red Devils have only managed to finish in the top four on two occasions in the past five seasons.
