Robert Pires states his prediction for PSG v Man United
Robert Pires looks ahead to Man United's trip to PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday
Robert Pires is tipping Paris Saint-Germain to book their place in the Champions League quarter-finals at the expense of Manchester United on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils are preparing to travel to Paris to take on the Ligue 1 side after having lost the first leg of their last 16 tie 2-0 at Old Trafford that month.
With PSG having scored two away goals, Manchester United have a lot of work to do to overturn the deficit and book their place in the last eight.
Arsenal legend Pires was part of the Gunners side that reached the Champions League final under Arsene Wenger back in 2006, where they lost 2-1 to FC Barcelona.
And the former France international has admitted that he cannot see anything else but Manchester United sealing their spot in the quarter-finals.
Speaking in an interview with bwin, Pires said: “PSG proved they are now finally ready to be genuine contenders for the Champions League by beating Manchester United so comfortably at Old Trafford.
“You can never rule out a good performance by Manchester United so I wouldn’t say it is a certainty PSG will repeat the result in Paris, but you’d have to expect them to progress now.
“[Thomas] Tuchel is a very good manager and he’s very clever. He will ensure there’s no complacency from the PSG players.”
Manchester United have been in fine form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho back in December.
The Red Devils are unbeaten in the Premier League and are fourth in the table as they chase Champions League qualification.
Manchester United have won their last eight away games in all competitions, which is a new club record.
They won 3-1 at Crystal Palace last week and have scored two or more goals in four of their last five away games.
