Tottenham Hotspur scouts were impressed by Benfica striker Jota after watching him in action during the Europa League win over Dynamo Zagreb, according to reports in Portugal.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that Spurs scouts were in attendance to watch Jota in action during the 3-0 Europa League win over Zagreb last week.

The same report says that German side Bayer Leverkusen also had scouts at the game as the race for Jota’s signature begins to hot up.

The same article says that Tottenham are preparing for a “major overhaul” of their squad this summer and could be set to sign as many as five new players ahead of next season.

It is claimed in the same article that the 19-year-old Jota is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Portugese football.

The same article says that Jota currently has a release clause set at around £25m but the Lisbon club are trying to get him to sign a new deal and increase his value to at least £85m.

The story also goes on to say that Tottenham are pondering moves for the likes of Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Hull star Jarrod Bowen.

Tottenham are currently in third place in the Premier League table.
