Santi Cazorla has been impressed by the start Unai Emery has made to life in charge at Arsenal this season.

The Spaniard was brought in as Arsene Wenger’s permanent successor back in May last year and he has enjoyed a strong start to life in charge at The Emirates.

Arsenal are currently still in the fight for a top-four finish this season as they aim to secure Champions League qualification in Emery’s first campaign in charge.

The north London side are also through to the Europa League quarter-finals, where they will take on Napoli later this month.

And former Arsenal playmaker Cazorla says that he has been pretty impressed by how his compatriot has been getting on as manager this season.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Cazorla said: “Arsenal have adapted to the big change and are doing very well with Emery.

“It takes time to adapt to such a big change, changing the manager after 23 years and the new manager needs time to make changes.

“Arsenal have been steadily improving this season and have a good enough squad to be competitive and win trophies.”

Arsenal can move back into the top four if they beat Newcastle United in front of their home fans at The Emirates on Monday night.

The north London side are aiming to at least finish the top four and push for the Europa League title after they finished sixth and without a trophy last term.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04.
