BBC Sport pundit gives his prediction for Arsenal v Crystal Palace
Mark Lawrenson is tipping Arsenal to claim a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at The Emirates on Sunday
Mark Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to keep their bid to finish in the top four on track by beating Crystal Palace at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners head into this weekend’s round of fixtures in fourth place in the Premier League table as they aim to try and book their place in the Champions League for next season.
Arsenal secured their place in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday night thanks to a 1-0 win at Napoli to wrap up a 3-0 victory.
However, they will now switch their focus firmly back to Premier League affairs as they look to try and finish in the top four for the first time in two seasons.
The Gunners were 1-0 winners over Watford away from home last Monday and they will be looking to take maximum points from their remaining five fixtures this season.
And former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to claim a 2-0 victory over Palace in front of their home fans on Sunday afternoon.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “I was disappointed with Arsenal on Monday night. I know they won at Watford but they never really had control of the game, even with a man advantage.
“The Gunners are average on the road but it is a different story at home, where they have not lost since the opening weekend of the season.
“Palace always carry a threat on their travels but I only see one outcome here.”
Arsenal are currently in fourth place and just one point behind third-placed Tottenham with five games left to play this season.
