Michael Owen is backing Arsenal and Napoli to play out a draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final at The Emirates on Thursday night.

The Gunners will welcome the Italian side to north London following a disappointing 1-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.

Arsenal saw their winning run in the Premier League come to an end on Merseyside to cast doubt on their chances of finishing in the top four.

Unai Emery’s side dropped down to fifth place in the Premier League table after Chelsea FC were 2-0 winners against West Ham on Monday night.

Arsenal’s best chance of securing a place in next season’s Champions League could be through winning the Europa League this term.

Napoli have never won on English soil in eight attempts, losing 1-0 to Liverpool FC in their final Champions League group-stage fixture back in December.

The Gunners were 2-0 winners against Napoli in their previous meeting in the Champions League at The Emirates in October 2013, only to lose 2-0 in Naples two months later.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Arsenal and Napoli to settle for a draw in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final at The Emirates on Thursday night.

“This is the third game between the teams in European competition with the home side winning the two previous encounters in the group stages of the Champions League back in the 2013-14 season,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Napoli have never won in England in European competition in eight previous visits, but I expect the Serie A side to score at the Emirates in what promises to be an entertaining tie.

“The Gunners have won their last three home games in all competitions without conceding a goal, but I think it will be honours even and all to play for back in Naples next week.”

Arsenal reached the Europa League semi-finals last season before losing to Atletico Madrid in the last four.
