Paul Merson is predicting that Arsenal will ease to a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace in their Premier League clash at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners will be looking to cement their place in the top four ahead of Manchester United and Chelsea FC with a vital win against their London rivals on Easter Sunday.

Unai Emery’s side appear to have hit form at the right time of the season following six victories in their last seven games in all competitions.

The only blotch on their recent record is a 1-0 loss to Everton on Merseyside earlier this month, although Manchester United will make the trip to Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Red Devils will hoist themselves ahead of Arsenal for a couple of hours if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side manage to beat Everton.

However, Arsenal can reassert their top-four claim with a vital victory over Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace outfit at the Emirates Stadium.

And former Arsenal midfielder Merson is confident that the Gunners will ease to a straightforward victory over Crystal Palace.

“Arsenal need to win this, they have to,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“The top four is in their hands still. Palace are a funny team – they have flattered to deceive and should not be where they are.

“They can turn in a performance, but not this time. Arsenal will be able to start strongly at home and be too much for Palace.”

Arsenal were 1-0 winners against Napoli in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday to secure their place in the last four.

The north London side will take on La Liga outfit Valencia in the semi-finals.
