Liverpool FC made the breakthrough in the second half when Georginio Wijnaldum netted his third Premier League goal of the season after a frustrating opening 45 minutes in the Welsh capital.
The Netherlands international got on the end of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross from a corner in a routine straight from the training ground.
Liverpool FC escaped without punishment shortly after when Cadriff defender Sean Morrison missed a close-range header with the goal at his mercy.
Morrison would play a key role in Liverpool FC’s second goal when the Cardiff defender brought down Mohamed Salah inside the penalty area.
James Milner, who replaced substitute Fabinho in the second half, converted his effort from the penalty spot to seal three points in the Welsh capital.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher was impressed with the Reds for maintaining their composure and patience throughout the Premier League clash.
“In the last few weeks what’s been so impressive is there’s no panic [in the Liverpool FC team],” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“There’s more panic from people watching it. The players are so relaxed. I think of that Chelsea FC game a few years ago. Liverpool got so desperate.
“This Liverpool FC team never look desperate.”
Liverpool FC are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and a point ahead of Manchester City in what is proving to be a compelling title race.
The Citizens will make the short trip to Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The Reds will take on Huddersfield Town in their next Premier League fixture at Anfield on Friday night.
