Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to ease to victory over Cardiff City in the Premier League on Sunday.

Liverpool FC have beaten Burnley Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Chelsea FC to keep alive their hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side started the weekend two points ahead of Manchester City before the Citizens’ clash with Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Liverpool FC will be hoping that a resounding win against Cardiff can heap pressure on the Citizens ahead of their derby clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

And former Reds striker Owen is confident that Liverpool FC won’t encounter any problems against Cardiff and he is backing them to win by a three-goal margin.

“Cardiff gave themselves a chance of avoiding the drop when they won at Brighton midweek and the Bluebirds start the weekend just three points from safety,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Had the Bluebirds lost at the Amex on Tuesday one would expect an air of resignation at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday, but there is likely to be a renewed optimism on the terraces following that win at the Amex.

“The Reds have the class and belief to cope with anything Cardiff can throw at them, however, and I expect Jurgen Klopp’s side to run out comfortable winners.”

Liverpool FC were 4-1 winners against FC Porto in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night.

The Reds set up a meeting with Spanish giants FC Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final after the La Liga leaders beat Manchester United over two legs.

Liverpool FC or FC Barcelona will face either Ajax or Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final in Madrid in June.
