Hazard, though, netted for the 16th time in the league this season when the Belgian forward danced his way through the West Ham defence to break the deadlock.
The 28-year-old managed to evade four West Ham players before Hazard placed his finish into the net to ease any nerves at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard wrapped up three points in the 90th minute after the Belgium international finished from close range with an instinctive finish.
Former Newcastle striker Shearer took to Twitter to praise Hazard for his brilliant opening goal in a straightforward 2-0 win over West Ham.
Shearer wrote on Twitter: “Wow @hazardeden10 what a goal 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #CHEWHU”
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris hailed Hazard as the league’s best player.
Morris posted: “Quite simply the best player in the league @hazardeden10”
Chelsea FC moved into third place for the first time since 4 December.
The Blues had made an impressive start to life under Maurizio Sarri after Chelsea FC remained unbeaten until a 3-1 loss to Tottenham at the end of November.
Chelsea FC will take on Premier League leaders Liverpool FC in their next top-flight fixture at Anfield on Sunday 14 April.
Hazard has netted 17 times in the Premier League this term.
