Jamie Carragher has blasted Maurizio Sarri after the Chelsea FC manager revealed he only watched 20 minutes of Callum Hudson-Odoi’s debut last week.

The Blues teenager was named in Gareth Southgate’s starting line up for England’s clash against Montenegro in their Euro 2020 qualifier.

The 18-year-old acquitted himself well at Podgorica City Stadium after Hudson-Odoi produced an assist for Ross Barkley’s first goal in the 5-1 rout of Montenegro.

Hudson-Odoi completed 90 minutes of the European qualifier, despite not starting a Premier League game under Sarri in the current domestic campaign.

The Bayern Munich target had been tipped to start Chelsea FC’s trip to Cardiff City following his impressive England debut during the international break.

However, the promising teenage talent didn’t come off the bench despite Chelsea FC trailing the Welsh side throughout most of the second half.

Goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Ruben Loftus-Cheek rescued three points for the visitors in the final 10 minutes in the Welsh capital.

But Carragher was still irked by comments that Sarri had made about Hudson-Odoi’s international debut before the 2-1 win.

“Only 20 minutes because I had 14 players in the internationals so I didn’t have time to watch 20 matches,” Sarri was quoted as saying by Vavel.

“He [Hudson-Odoi] didn’t start very well on the right but did very well on the left.”

And the Sky Sports pundit blasted Sarri for failing to watch the full 90 minutes of his talented youngster’s debut for England.

“I have no problem with him saying that, privately, to the player, and maybe publicly’s not the end of the world,” Carragher told Sky Sports on Sunday.

“My big problem with what Sarri said about Hudson-Odoi, and it really wound me up because I put myself in that lad’s position, is when he said, ‘I only watched 20 minutes of the game, and the 20 minutes I did watch he didn’t even play that well’.

“This is a lad that’s making his full international debut – why are you not watching the full game?”

Hudson-Odoi has netted five goals in 10 games in the Europa League and the FA Cup this term.
