Callum Hudson-Odoi reacts to Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win over Brighton
Callum Hudson-Odoi has his say on Chelsea FC's 3-0 win over Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday
Callum Hudson-Odoi could not hide his delight at helping Chelsea FC to claim a 3-0 win over Brighton in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
The England international was handed his first Premier League start of the season at Stamford Bridge as the Blues claimed all three points in front of their home fans to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.
Chelsea FC took the lead in the 38th minute when Olivier Giroud flicked home Hudson-Odoi’s cross.
The Blues were 2-0 up when Eden Hazard fired a brilliant goal into the bottom-right corner in the 60th minute, before Ruben Loftus-Cheek added one of his own three minutes later to make the points secure.
The result left Chelsea FC fifth in the Premier League table and level on points with Arsenal, having played a game more than the Gunners.
And speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Hudson-Odoi said: “I am very happy for the win and we all worked hard. We had to get rhythm and bounced back well. Today we got told the team and had to prepare mentally.”
He added: “The manager told me to go and express myself. I feel comfortable, hopefully I did well.”
Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek said: “We [him and Hudson-Odoi] have both worked all of our lives for this chance, years of hard work and now we start in a Premier League game together. That’s good for the academy.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Monday night when they host West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are aiming to break back into the top four this season after having finished fifth and won the FA Cup last year.
