The Blues are likely to be linked with a host of players this summer if they end up being able to make signings despite their impending Fifa transfer ban.
Chelsea FC boss Maurizio Sarri is likely to be thinking about the forthcoming transfer window even though the Blues may not be allowed to make any signings this summer.
Speculation about Eden Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge has mounted in recent weeks, with Real Madrid thought to be keen on bringing the Belgian attacker to the Bernabeu.
Chelsea FC are likely to be keen to bolster their attacking line-up at Stamford Bridge if they are allowed to make signings this summer.
And former Blues star Hasselbaink feels that Argentina international Icardi, 26, would be a perfect signing for the west London club ahead of Robert Lewandowski.
Speaking in an interview with bwin, Hasselbaink said: “Chelsea are in desperate need of proven firepower so I would love to see them make a move for Lewandowski or Icardi this summer.
“Icardi would be my preference as I’m a little bit worried about Lewandowski’s age.
“I think Icardi is a more realistic target while also being more likely to adapt to the Premier League. Lewandowski is a superb striker but he is the wrong side of 30 and we have seen with Higuain that England is not an easy place to come at that stage of your career.”
Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their Premier League clash against Liverpool FC at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The west London side are aiming to try and finish in the top four this term after ending up in fifth place under Antonio Conte last season.
