N’Golo Kante sets challenge for Chelsea FC team-mates
N'Golo Kante says winning the Europa League is a priority for Chelsea FC as the top-four race hots up
N’Golo Kante has challenged Chelsea FC to win the Europa League this season.
The Blues successfully booked their place in the last four of Europe’s second tier club competition last week with victory over Slavia Prague in the quarter-finals.
Chelsea FC will now take on Frankfurt in the last four for a place in the Europa League final against either Arsenal or Valencia, who contest the other semi-final.
With the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League going down to the wire, winning the Europa League represents another route into next season’s Champions League.
Chelsea FC are currently battling with Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for the final two Champions League qualification spots this season.
And although Kante admits that Chelsea FC will do everything they can to try and finish in the top four, he says that winning the Europa League was one of the Blues’ priorities from the start of the season.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website, Kante said: “Winning the Europa League is one target for the club, and for us, and it is what we are going to try to do.
“We are three games away from winning that title, but we must first go for fourth place.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action next Sunday when they travel to Manchester United in the top flight.
They will then travel to Frankfurt for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final clash on Thursday 2 May.
