The England international initially struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the team at Stamford Bridge following Sarri’s appointment as the club’s new manager last summer.
However, Loftus-Cheek appears to have won over Sarri in recent games and he has found himself more regularly in the first team at Chelsea FC.
The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan to Crystal Palace, has scored three goals and made two assists in the Europa League for the Blues so far this season.
He has also been starting more of Chelsea FC’s Premier League games, with Sarri clearly having been impressed by what he has seen of him recently.
And Loftus-Cheek has now revealed the key areas of his game that Sarri told him to work on at the start of the season.
Speaking in an interview with the Chelsea FC magazine, Loftus-Cheek said: “He told me I needed to improve on my positioning and develop my defensive awareness if I wanted to play in midfield for him.
“But I worked hard on the things he had talked to me about and I think I’ve improved a lot on that aspect of my game, and he seemed to see the improvement and I think he sees me as a midfielder now too.
“I completely respect the honesty of that and it gave me something to work towards. I’ve improved off the back of it and now I’m playing in midfield, so he’s an honest guy.”
Loftus-Cheek will be hoping to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Europa League action on Thursday night with a home clash against Slavia Prague, in the quarter-final return leg.
