Sky Sports pundit gives his prediction for Chelsea FC v Slavia Prague
Charlie Nicholas looks ahead to Chelsea FC's home clash with Slavia Prague on Thursday night in the Europa League
Charlie Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to ease through to the Europa League semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Slavia Prague on Thursday night.
The Blues head into the game having won the first leg 1-0 away from home last week thanks to Marcos Alonso’s goal.
The away goal puts Chelsea FC firmly in control of the tie as they aim to qualify through to the semi-finals of Europe’s second tier club competition.
Chelsea FC warmed up for the game with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Liverpool FC at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
However, former Arsenal star Nicholas is tipping the west London side to claim a relatively comfortable win when they take on Slavia Prague in the return leg on Thursday night.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “It will be another rest for five or six Chelsea players, I would imagine.
“Eden Hazard will get a night off and Olivier Giroud will come in as well as Pedro. There are enough choices in there.
“I would keep Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson Odoi in the side, but this will be another comfortable night for Chelsea. Giroud will score again.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Monday night when they host Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are currently outside of the top four and will be looking to try and win the Europa League as a potential route into next season’s Champions League.
They finished in fifth place and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last season before Maurizio Sarri was brought in as his replacement.
