Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to ease into the Champions League semi-finals thanks to a victory over FC Porto on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in a strong position in the quarter-final tie thanks to Liverpool FC’s 2-0 victory over FC Porto in the first leg at Anfield last week.

Goals from Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino sealed a straightforward win for the home side ahead of their return trip to Portugal.

Liverpool FC will have fond memories of Estádio do Dragão given that Klopp’s men were 5-0 winners at the stadium last season in the first leg of the last-16 tie.

The Reds have a poor record in the Champions League on the road this season, having lost to Napoli, Red Star Belgrade and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the Merseyside outfit were 3-1 winners against Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the second leg of their round of 16 clash at the Allianz Arena.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Klopp’s side to ease to a comfortable victory over FC Porto to book their spot in the Champions League last four.

“Liverpool are unbeaten in their seven previous European ties with Porto and I expect them to win in the Estadio de Dragao although it is unlikely to be as emphatic a scoreline as last season’s last 16 tie when the Reds romped to a 5-0 success,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Porto have won all four of their home games in the competition so far this season, but they have not met a side of the calibre or European pedigree of Liverpool who returned to the top of the Premier League table with victory over Chelsea on Sunday.”

Liverpool FC haven’t won the Champions League crown since 2005 when the Reds beat AC Milan on penalties.

The Reds are looking to win their first Premier League title and are two points ahead of Manchester City.
