Jurgen Klopp is hoping to have Dejan Lovren back available for Liverpool FC’s trip to Cardiff City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The centre-half missed Liverpool FC’s Champions League triumph over FC Porto last week due to illness but he should be ready to return to action for Sunday’s crunch clash in Cardiff.

Meanwhile, Joe Gomez made his first appearance for four months as a second-half substitute at Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday night during Liverpool FC’s impressive 4-1 win over FC Porto.

And Klopp has now delivered the latest update on both players, as well as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Cardiff City.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Klopp said: “Dejan was ill so he should be available again, we will see that.

“Pretty much all the rest should be available, I heard nothing after the Porto game. Always after games a few players have slight, little problems but nothing really serious – so it should be OK, [they] should all be in.”

Klopp continued: “Joe looked good. Joe played 60 minutes [for the U23s last Sunday] and now 20 roundabout. It looked good and looks good.

“If he will start [against Cardiff], we will see; we have a lot of players with a lot of rhythm, which is good, but it’s good to have him. It’s very important.

“It’s the same for Ox, it’s not about being ready and you come in immediately, because as long as the other players show no drop in form in training, we came [to this point] like this.

“But it’s very good to have them back and have them in contention.”

Liverpool FC are aiming to try and win the Premier League this season as they look to try and lift their first ever trophy under Klopp.

The Reds will take on FC Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals as they bid to try and reach the final of Europe’s elite club competition for the second season running.

The Merseyside outfit reached the Champions League final last season but ended up losing 3-1 to Real Madrid.
