Jamie Carragher sends warning to Chelsea FC about Liverpool FC revenge
Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher looks ahead to their meeting with Chelsea FC on Sunday 14 April
Jamie Carragher has warned Chelsea FC that Liverpool FC will be looking to put some ghosts to bed when they host their bitter rivals at Anfield on Sunday 14 April.
Liverpool FC had the chance to move back to the top of the Premier League table on Friday night after Manchester City reclaimed top spot thanks to a 2-0 win over Cardiff mid-week.
The Reds suffered an early blow when Shane Long scored a rare Premier League goal in the eighth minute to put the visitors on the back foot on the south coast.
Liverpool FC were level before half-time when Naby Keita managed to open his Premier League account with a precise header.
Mohamed Salah ended an eight-game goal drought with a superb solo goal on the break to give Liverpool FC a late lead.
Fittingly, captain Jordan Henderson put the result beyond any doubt with Liverpool FC’s third goal with minutes to spare.
Next up for Liverpool FC is Chelsea FC, who fatally dented their hopes of winning the title with three games to go back in 2013-14.
Henderson missed their 2-0 loss to Chelsea FC due to suspension and is one of the only remaining players left from Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
Former Reds defender Carragher believes Liverpool FC will have a point to prove against Chelsea FC on April 14.
Asked by his Sky Sports colleague Martin Tyler whether there is a score to be settled between the two clubs, Carragher replied: “Yes.”
He added: “Another question to be answered. We all know what happened the last time Liverpool were going for the title. It will be a huge atmosphere.
“Another game ticked off. There is a huge rivalry between Liverpool and Chelsea over the years. Add into the mix what happened last time Liverpool were going for the title.”
