Former Manchester United defender Neville heaped praise on Matip for his excellent performance at the back in Liverpool FC’s straightforward win.
“It’s going to Matip,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“When you’re going for a title and playing in a game like this, it’s about not giving encouragement to the opposition. Matip has been outstanding with his defending from minute one.
“He has also stepped in with the ball. He has been really good with his passes.”
Liverpool FC hoisted themselves to the top of the Premier League table and two points ahead of defending champions Manchester City.
The Citizens will face Manchester United at Old Trafford in Wednesday’s Manchester derby before Liverpool FC host Huddersfield Town on Friday night.
