Mo Salah says his wonder-goal against Chelsea FC was all about instinct after the Liverpool FC forward secured a vital 2-0 victory at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Egypt international has been struggling to rekindle his goal-scoring form over the past couple of months to prompt criticism of the reigning PFA player of the year.

Salah ended an eight-game goal drought with a superb solo goal in a 3-1 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s to rebuild some of the forward’s confidence.

Up against his former club Chelsea FC, Salah made his mark in the second half when he fired past the world’s most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from outside the penalty area.

The African forward has now scored 19 goals and has made seven assists in 34 games in the Premier League this season to produce a respectable second campaign at the Anfield side.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his wonder-goal in Liverpool FC’s 2-0 victory over Chelsea FC, Salah shed light on his thought process behind the exceptional strike:

“I don’t think, I just feel!” Salah told Sky Sports.

“Normally I shoot [with the] inside of the foot but this one – because it’s far [out] – I just hit it with power.

“I was a bit lucky that the ball hit the net like that.”

Salah moved to Liverpool FC in a £39m deal from Serie A side AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The Egyptian forward scored 32 times in his first full season in the Premier League last term.

Salah was named the PFA player of the year for his performances in the league despite the Reds finishing in fourth place.
