Martin Keown says he is still backing Liverpool FC to win the Premier League title this season.

The Merseyside outfit started the Premier League weekend in first place in the table and two points ahead of defending champions Manchester City.

Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against Fulham at Craven Cottage in their last Premier League fixture before the international break.

Manchester City managed to restore their one-point lead at the top after a 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday ahead of Liverpool FC’s home clash against Spurs.

Liverpool FC then regained top spot on Sunday afternoon thanks to their dramatic 2-1 win over Tottenham at Anfield.

The Reds had only lost one Premier League game in the current campaign ahead of their fixture with Spurs after a 2-1 loss to Manchester City back in January.

Liverpool FC appear to have come through a sticky patch in the Premier League, with the title race entering the final months of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had a morale boosting 3-1 win against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena earlier this month to secure their place in the last eight.

Former Arsenal defender Keown is backing Liverpool FC to win the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City this term.

“I’ve said since the start of the season that Liverpool will win it,” Keown told MailOnline. “I’m standing by that.

“It will be tough, of course. For the Premier League itself, it’s great to have a race after City’s record-breaking season last year.”

Liverpool FC have finished in fourth place in the last two Premier League seasons to help secure regular Champions League football.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but they have finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.

Klopp won the Bundesliga twice during his seven seasons in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
