Jordan Henderson reacts to Liverpool FC’s 2-0 win over FC Porto
Jordan Henderson has his say on Liverpool FC's 2-0 win over FC Porto in the Champions League
Jordan Henderson believes that Liverpool FC can be pleased with the result after they sealed a 2-0 win over FC Porto to take a step closer towards the Champions League semi-finals.
Goals from Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino in the first half put Liverpool FC in control of the game as they secured a comfortable win in the first leg of the quarter-final clash at Anfield.
Liverpool FC were not able to add to their lead after the break but were at least able to keep an important clean sheet ahead of the return leg in Portugal next week.
And Liverpool FC captain Henderson says that the Reds can be pleased with the way they handled the game on Tuesday night.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Henderson said: “They’re a good team with good players. You can see that they’re dangerous going forward. They had a couple of half-chances I think.
“But overall I think we’ve got to be pleased with the 2-0. There were some good moments in the game [but] obviously we can do better. 2-0, clean sheet – that’s important.”
He added: “Obviously we wanted to come out in the second half and score one or two more if we could, but that wasn’t the case.
“We didn’t really create that much and it was a bit stop-start. We could have been a lot better in the second half.
“But overall we’ve got to be pleased [with] a 2-0 to take over there.”
Henderson will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Sunday night with a crunch clash against Chelsea FC at Anfield.
The Reds are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League table but have played a game more than Manchester City in second place.
Liverpool FC have been in fine form in recent weeks and have drawn one and won four of their last five Premier League outings.
