Emile Heskey: Why Sadio Mane is Liverpool FC’s new talisman
Emile Heskey has his say on Sadio Mane's fine form for Liverpool FC this season
Emile Heskey has praised Sadio Mane for “stepping up to the plate” with his performances for Liverpool FC this season.
Mane has been one of Liverpool FC’s most consistent players in recent weeks and his form has been a major factor in the Reds’ challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Senegal international Mane has scored 17 goals and made one assist in 31 Premier League games for Liverpool FC this season to help the Reds challenge for the top-flight title.
The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer in the Liverpool FC team and has been earning plenty of praise for his performances alongside the likes of Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah up front for the Reds.
And former Liverpool FC star Heskey has praised Mane for the way he has been performing for Liverpool FC so far this season.
Speaking in an interview with betoclock.com, ex-England international Heskey said: “Sadio Mane has had to step-up to the plate this season, especially with Salah not getting the rub of the green recently.
“In comparison, Man City have a number of players they can rely on for goals, in Aguero, Sterling, Sane, Silva, Mahrez and De Bruyne.
“They’ve always got someone to count on. Liverpool don’t have that, but Mane has taken on the mantle and is now the talisman.”
Liverpool FC will take on FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday night at Anfield.
They will then take on Chelsea FC in their next Premier League game at Anfield on Sunday afternoon next weekend.
