Emile Heskey opens up about Mo Salah at Liverpool FC
Emile Heskey has his say on Mohamed Salah's form for Liverpool FC so far this season
Emile Heskey has insisted that Mohamed Salah will always have his doubters no matter how he is performing for Liverpool FC.
The Egypt international ended an eight-game run without a goal on Friday night when he netted in Liverpool FC’s crucial 3-1 win over Southampton on the south coast to keep the Reds’ title hopes alive.
Liverpool FC’s win over Southampton moved them back to the top of the Premier League table and two points clear of Manchester City, having played a game more than the Citizens.
Salah was named as the PFA player of the year last season following his impressive debut campaign at the Merseyside outfit.
However, he had struggled to maintain consistent form in recent weeks before he netted in Friday’s win over the Saints.
And former Liverpool FC star Heskey says that it is perfectly normal for Salah to have his doubters.
Speaking in an interview with betoclock.com, Heskey said: “Mo Salah will get doubters no matter how he performs.
“If Salah reaches 20 goals this season, people will continue to say it’s been a bad season for him. But if anyone else gets 20 goals, it’s a great season for them.
“At this moment, 18 goals is a good return. He could have had more, but he hasn’t got the rub of the green.”
Salah – who signed for Liverpool FC from AS Roma back in 2017 – has scored 18 goals and made seven assists in 33 Premier League games so far this season.
Liverpool FC will take on FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Tuesday night.
