Gary Lineker heaped praise on David De Gea for his crucial save in the second half to give Manchester United the springboard to secure a 2-1 win over West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when club record signing Paul Pogba broke the deadlock from the penalty spot.

However, West Ham levelled inside four minutes of the second half through Brazilian playmaker Felipe Anderson to leave Manchester United facing another disappointing result.

Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini brought on Michail Antonio for Javier Hernandez in the second half in search of three points.

The substitution appeared to be inspired when Antonio hit the woodwork with a powerful shot before De Gea produced a world-class save to spare the home side’s blush.

Antonio powered a header towards the Man United goal but the English midfielder was denied by De Gea from close range to deny West Ham a deserved winner.

And Pogba went on to score his second goal from the spot to secure a 2-1 win over West Ham with 10 minutes left to play at Old Trafford.

Former Spurs forward Lineker highlighted De Gea’s save as a key moment in the Premier League clash.

Lineker wrote on social media: “Spider-Man to the rescue. Great save from De Gea.”
