Roy Keane has warned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that the Manchester United squad will end up throwing their manager “under the bus”.

The Red Devils lost for the eighth time in 10 games in all competitions on Wednesday night following a 2-0 loss to Premier League leaders Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Goals from Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane in the second half sealed a comfortable away win for Manchester City, who took a big step towards retaining their Premier League title.

Manchester United find themselves in sixth spot in the Premier League table and three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC, who will make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

The Red Devils have only managed to win two games since Solskjaer was appointed Manchester United’s permanent manager following an excellent run after he replaced Jose Mourinho in December 2018.

His predecessor struggled to get the best out of key Manchester United players towards the end of his reign at Old Trafford.

Former Red Devils captain Keane believes the Manchester United players will act the same way under Solskjaer.

“I’m always intrigued by comments after games when they say, ‘we’ll be up for the next game’. You’re supposed to be up for every game. It doesn’t matter whether you’re playing for Man United or Altrincham. You have to be up for every game of football,” Keane told Sky Sports.

“I don’t fall for this carry on that there will be a brilliant reaction from this set of players. These are the same players that threw Mourinho under the bus and they will do exactly the same to Ole. Leopards don’t change their spots. There are too many bluffers at this club to get United back to the very top.

“Even the point that we’re chatting about Man United trying to finish fourth shows how the standards have changed both on and off the pitch.”

Manchester United exited the Champions League after a 4-0 aggregate loss to FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

The Red Devils are in a battle with Arsenal, Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur to secure one of the final two Champions League qualification spots.
