Gary Lineker reacts to Man United’s 4-0 loss at Everton
Gary Neville has his say about Man United's crushing 4-0 loss at the hands of Everton at Goodison Park
Gary Lineker has taken to social media to jokingly suggest that Manchester United should bring back Jose Mourinho as manager after they suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Red Devils headed into the game looking to bounce back from their 3-0 loss to FC Barcelona in the Champions League last week but instead slumped to their heaviest Premier League defeat in nearly three years.
Goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and substitute Theo Walcott wrapped up a comprehensive home win for Everton, who have now beaten Manchester United, Chelsea FC and Arsenal in their last three home games.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have been in dismal form in recent weeks, and they have lost three of their last five Premier League games to leave them off the pace in the race for Champions League qualification.
As the final whistle approached at Goodison Park, England legend Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Bring back Mourinho.”
Earlier in the game, Lineker singled out Richarlison for special praise, tweeting: “Excellent first half from Richarlison, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a game where he doesn’t require the physio to come on. Remarkably low pain threshold perhaps.”
The result leaves Manchester United in sixth place in the Premier League table and facing a serious uphill battle to finish in the top four this season.
Manchester United have now lost six times in their last eight outings in all competitions to put pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
