Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes honest admission about Man United’s 2-1 win over West Ham
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his say on Man United's performance in their 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that Manchester United were fortunate to claim all three points in their 2-1 win over West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.
Two Paul Pogba penalties ended up proving to be the difference between the two sides as Manchester United sealed an important win in their race to secure Champions League qualification this season.
Manchester United headed into the game on the back of their disappointing 1-0 loss to FC Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
And it was a far from convincing display from the Red Devils as they ended up claiming all three points against the Hammers.
Speaking at his post-match news conference after the game, Solskajer said: “I can’t hide it. Sometimes you get more than you deserve, and today was one of those nights. Watford last time was one of them.
“But then again, Wolverhampton and Arsenal, the two away games we lost, we should have won. So it evens itself out in the long run.
“But of course we were lucky to get away with the three points, even a draw at one point we would have taken. Luckily it wasn’t Barcelona on the other side, but West Ham played well, played better than us, created chances.”
Pogba has scored 13 goals and made nine assists in 30 Premier League games so far this season for Manchester United.
Manchester United will now turn their attentions back towards Champions League affairs and their crunch clash against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils – who finished second in the table last term – are aiming to finish in the top four this season as Solskjaer looks to guide them towards Champions League qualification for next season.
