Carlo Ancelotti replies to questions about reported Man United target
Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti opens up about the future of Man United target Kalidou Koulibaly
Carlo Ancelotti has refused to rule out Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly moving to the Premier League this summer.
The Senegal international has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past two or three seasons but a transfer has failed to materialise so far.
Koulibaly has established himself as one of the best centre-halves in Serie A thanks to his consistent performances at perennial title challengers Napoli.
However, the Italian side continue to fall short in the pursuit of the Serie A crown due to Juventus’ dominance at the top of the division.
Manchester United have been linked with a big-money move to sign the African defender under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC have also been touted with an interest in signing Koulibaly ahead of the 2019 summer transfer window.
Napoli boss Ancelotti has now insisted that he won’t stay in the way of the Senegal international if Koulibaly is eager to leave this summer.
“We don’t need to sell our best players,” Ancelotti is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. “We can sign new players following our ideas.
“However, I am not going to block [any player] who wants to leave, I’ve never done it in my career.”
Koulibaly has scored 10 goals in 153 games in all competitions over the past five seasons at Napoli following his move to Stadio San Paolo from Genk in 2014.
The Senegal international has only won the Italian Super Cup during his five-season stay at the Serie A champions.
